Making
Beau
Beauregard was a blast to make and real easy once I figured the clothing situation. It was all about the monk pants and sash. The wraps were easy, just like Caleb’s, light cotton strips glued and painted. The pants are sleeves from a 12 inch figure’s shirt, just re positioned and glued. The top is also a sleeve, but from a retro Mego figure shirt, and it’s pair is Yasha’s top. Hey, they’re twinning already!
I wanted to make Beau early on. The lack of sculpting would cut down on time and make things easier. The hair is the only sculpted part. As mentioned above, it was about the clothes. I struggled with the sash and waistcoat area for design options. The first thing was the pants obviously, then some sort of monk armour. Beauregard is all about freedom of movement and martial arts lifestyle, not too big and baggy was the way to go. Her jade necklace is basic bead and thread, but hey you try tying thread in a knot that small! I’m gonna Todd Howard it and say “it just works”.
Beau was constructed from a Japanese brand artist buck, epoxy putty, a lot of cloth, paint, some harvested pockets and plastic sash from random 12 inch, 8 inch, and 4 inch figures. Her staff is a retro Witchblade figure’s spear with the tip removed. The first battle dress, that was lost is shown in a few photos. I made the new longer one on a whim, while setting up the new shop. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a look at the complete figure.
