Making

Caduceus

Caduceus I thought, was going to be the hardest and maybe fourth, or fifth to start. By then I would have my chops up. The nose, damn that nose! I had that nose nailed a few times, perfect and squished it three times, in one hour ! A couple of days later I got it and left it to dry extremely well before I moved on. I was the most impressed how this guy came together so flawlessly, and the staff. . . purely flow state made!  I started Cad last and the easiest most organic, to design/make. Ha, Caduceus . . .organic, seems fitting.

The staff was so fun to make! I bought a chunk of amethyst, broke a part off, and attached it to a kitchen skewer with Apoxie Sculpt and wrapped leather cord for the staff. I then added vines, mushrooms, lichen, and a couple of dragonflies in there somewhere! The end piece removes, to place in the clutching hand, and the brass incense burner is a repurposed grenade from a larger scale figure.

Caduceus was troubling me from the start. I had to get the scale right, but waited for the details to cook over in my brain. He had to come out looking good. It was all about the nose. The hair is actually Yasha’s base figure, Super girl. He came together organically (so fitting), once his base figure was in place. I actually grabbed a second from a swap meet to correct a mistake and acquire extra straps, belts, and buckles. The chest plate and shoulder guard are magnetized to attach in place, and the pants are downsized from a twelve inch military figure. The shin guards and shield are random robot kit parts modified with leather and elastic straps.

Because of the delays in this whole project, the absolute finished figure with all accessories is below, have a look!
